The Singing Men of Ohio and Women’s Chorale will be holding a joint concert this Sunday November 13 at the Templeton-Blackburn Memorial Auditorium alongside with the Athens Children’s Chorus. There will also be performances from Section 8 and Title IX, the A capella groups that stem from the two glee clubs respectively.
The Singing Men of Ohio, under the direction of Dr. Peter Jarjisian and Women’s Chorale, under the direction Dr. Steven Huang with Assistant Director Christian Lindsey, will preview two selections for the Bach Mass in B-Minor which be performed in full in the spring. The Mass is considered one of the premiere choral works ever written and The School of Music is looking forward to its debut at Ohio University.
Also featured will be a performance by the Athens Children’s Chorus led by Melanie Horne. The ensemble is comprised of boys and girls from third-grade to ninth-grade from the Athens area. The Chorus strives to reach out to children through music while allowing them to grown and truly enjoy their experience.
Don’t pass up the opportunity to see all of these excellent ensembles in one concert this Sunday at 4pm. The cost is free, however donations will be accepted during the performance and merchandise will be on sale in the lobby.
